What is included in the price?
Each CAPA Diesel Tuner includes the Tuner itself, a vehicle specific wiring loom and fitting instructions.

What effect does the CAPA Diesel Tuner have on vehicle emissions?
Diesel engines have a very high compression ratio (usually over 20:1). The cylinders contain more air than required for normal operating conditions. The Diesel Tuner adds extra fuel to make better use of all air available to increase power and torque. This also increases the eficciency of the engine, so less throttle is required for all driving conditions. Because you dont have to drive as hard for the same driving conditions, fuel economy is improved, and less emissions are produced. Should your vehicle "emit carbon", the fuel consumption of your vehicle is higher than required, but produces no extra power. After all, the fuel is not converted into energy required to increase power.

What effect will the Diesel Tuner have on fuel consumption?
The main reason why customers purchase our Diesel Tuner is to save fuel. The CAPA Diesel Tuner is an ideal product for vehicles that cover high mileage as fuel savings can be quite significant over the life of the vehicle. The CAPA Diesel Tuner can also be use on subsequent vehicles (if they use the same fuel system). Most customers see fuel consumption reduced by anywhere from 5 - 10%. Further improvements can be obtained with the installation of a high flow air filter.

How does the CAPA Diesel Tuner work?
Modern diesel vehicles are governed by a computer, the computer reads values from sensors at over a thousand times every second to determine how much fuel is added to the engine. The CAPA Diesel Tuner sits between the vehicle sensors and computer. It recieves values from the sensors, modifies them and forwards the modified values to the computer. This results in the vehicles computer adding more fuel. A more technical overview on how each tuner works can be found in the technical guide.

Why doesn't the vehicle manufacturer set up the vehicle to the same levels as the CAPA Diesel Tuner?
The vehicle manufactuer takes many factors into account when tuning their vehicles. Extreme temperatures, Poor Fuel Quality and Lack of Servicing need to be considered to prevent engine failure. Vehicle Manufacturers consider a worst case scenario when building their vehicles (e.g. a fully loaded car, towing an overloaded caravan up a hill). Some manufacturers provide one engine, and detune it so they can offer a range of models with different power outputs, or so they can release a more powerful model in the following year. In some cases this is achieved by simply reprogramming the vehicle.

How long does installation take?

Typical installaiton is no more than 30 minutes. There are a few exceptions, as some of the VP-37 units require wiring into the factory loom.
