We have found the Vortech product to be of the highest quality, with immense
reliability in the field due to the tight manufacturing tolerances used by
Vortech, and the amount of R&D that Vortech undertake.
The V1 S-trim is the most popular choice due to its up to 550hp output - this
does most cars no problem at all.
Due to its gear driven design the Vortech supercharger is audible with slight
gear whine present at idle. Above about 1200rpm though the Vortech is generally
quieter than the engine turning it. Due to being a supercharger that is
lubricated by engine oil, you may sometimes need to remove the sump to provide a
drain back for the blower oil which is most often sourced from the oil pressure
switch fitting.
Quality built from the finest materials
Vortech utilize the finest materials available to produce our
superchargers. For example, their impellers are investment cast of a proprietary
aluminium alloy. They are x-ray inspected for internal flaws, heat treated to T-6
hardness, and precision machined to our unique specifications.
Vortech gearcases and volutes are precision cast from "virgin" 356
aircraft specification aluminium alloy and heat treated to a T-6 hardness. Their
geometry is measured and held to fractions of a thousands of an inch - beyond
most aircraft tolerances.
Vortech gears are made of 9310 alloy carburizing steel. This superior grade
material allows us to create surfaces which are very hard providing exceptional
wear resistance and strength. All of this costs a bit more. But nothing else
would meet our high quality standards or yours.
All of the bearings we use are Made in the USA. They are very high precision and
most of the shaft bearings are custom ordered to Vortech's unique specifications.
Aircraft quality is truly an understatement here, since these things turn twice
as fast as a jet engine.
Performance Achievements
A Vortech powered small block Ford (347 cu. in.) was the first to achieve 1,000+
horsepower.
Vortech powered 5.0 Mustangs were the first to achieve times in the 10, 9 and
even the 8 second brackets.
